Mental Health and Addictions

Mental Health (Adult and Children)

The Seabird Island Band’s Mental Health services provide individual, couples family counseling and alcohol and drug counseling, as well as child and youth mental health counseling.

Child and youth mental health counseling also provides:

  • Young Girls Group for girls ages 6 – 12.
  • Young Boys Group for boys ages 6 – 12.
  • Youth Girls Group for girls ages 13 – 18.
  • Youth Boys Group for boys ages 13-18.
  • As well as a number of monthly workshops for children and youth.

  

Am I eligible?
If you are a Band Member of and currently living on one of the following reserves you are eligible for services:

  • Seabird Island
  • Shxw’owhamel
  • Fraser North
  • Cheam
  • Scowlitz
  • Union Bar
  • Chawathil (Some services are available, contact us for more information)

Family Counseling

The Seabird Island Band provides family and addiction counseling at the Seabird Island Wellness Centre four days a week to support clients with both harm reduction and quitting the use and/or abuse of substances and other addictions.  The family counselors also work within the family structure to support the family; this could be through doing wellness plans, family circles and support groups as well as seeing clients on a one to one basis.

 

Am I eligible?
If you are a Member of one of the following Bands, and are currently living on-reserve you are eligible for this service.

  • Seabird Island
  • Scowlitz
  • Shxw’o’hamel
  • Union Bar
  • Kwaw-Kwaw-Aplit
  • Some of the Fraser North communities as requested
