Emergency Communications

In an emergency situation, rumors and false information can spread like wildfire, however in times like this people need to be able to rely on a source of information that has been verified, is accurate and up to date. The Seabird Communications Program has a dedicated, certified Emergency Information Officer who works in the EOC (Emergency Operation Center), and with both the Seabird Emergency Preparedness Committee and the Kent Harrison Joint Emergency Preparedness Committee. Ensuring we have the most up to date, accurate and reliable information going out to our community in a timely manner.

We put out information and educational tools around emergency events, before, after and as they happen. We write key messages and media releases to communicate effectively with the public, media, and internal stakeholders while utilizing a variety of communications media.

Emergency Events Include:

  • Winter Storms
  • Wildfires
  • Heat Domes
  • Atmospheric Rivers
  • Earth Quakes
  • Pandemics

  • and more
