Young Parents Program
We are an extension of the Seabird Daycare and work in partnership with Seabird Island Community School’s High School to provide daycare opportunities to High School student who have children and would otherwise not be able to attend or finish school because they have no one to watch their children.
Great Location
We are ideally located to care for children whose parents attend High School. Occupying a bright, airy space on the first floor of the Seabird Island Community High School.
Training for parents
Through our training programs, young parents are also able to take part in opportunities to learn life skills, parenting skills, and receive career and education counseling.
Great Environment
We provide an environment that encourages the fullest all-round development of each child and believe that parents should play an active role in their child’s education and care.

Parent involvement is the program is mandatory. This is an important aspect of care because it helps to link the child’s home and family with the daycare centre. We understand that parents are the primary caregivers in their child’s life and we try to work as a team to provide the best care possible for the child and their family.
Mothers and Fathers are always welcome at the centre upon approval by the school principal and teachers. The staff encourages parents to become involved in the daily routine of their child by dropping in to have lunch with your child at lunchtime, spending a few extra minutes of play or story time at drop-off or taking part in field trips or special events. Parents will also participate in activities including career planning, educational planning, life skills and parenting skills
You are welcome to contact us if you have any suggestions or would like to become involved in a special project.
