A bed-based treatment program for young adults seeking support with substance use. It’s a community-driven, culturally grounded service rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection – to self, to peers, to culture, to community, and to land.
The Thíytelh Wellness Program is a licensed, 90-day bed-based substance use treatment program designed specifically for Indigenous young adults aged 19 to 26. Hosted by Seabird Island and delivered in partnership with Fraser Health Authority, the program brings together Indigenous knowledge, cultural practices, land-based healing, and evidence-informed clinical care to support holistic wellness and long-term recovery.
The name “Thíytelh” comes from the Halq’eméylem language, meaning “a place for young adults to heal their spirit.” Guided by this meaning, the program is committed to supporting healing and wellness through connection to culture, community, identity, land, and self, while honouring the relationships between past, present, and future generations.
Thíytelh integrates First Nations ways of knowing, cultural practices, land-based healing, and evidence-informed clinical care through a Two-Eyed Seeing approach. Participants are supported through holistic programming that recognizes healing as physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, relational, and cultural.
