Sq’éwqel Logos, Crests, Images – Trademark

Please be advised that the Sq’éwqel Logo is a registered trade-mark owned by Sq’éwqel. As the owner of the trade-mark Sq’éwqel has the exclusive right to the use of the Sq’éwqel trade-mark in respect of wares or services throughout Canada. Its use is strictly regulated.

Authorization is required to use the Sq’éwqel Brand (logo and wordmark) on any outside materials and items (ie. flyers, posters, forms, clothing, signs, pens, cups, drums etc.)

The purposes of having the Sq’éwqel logo trade-marked is: to prevent it from being used by persons outside of Sq’éwqel without proper authorization.

To ensure that when it is used, it is used in the proper way (ie. in a respectful way, without distortion, doctoring etc.).

We are proud of our logo, it sets us apart. We would not want misuse of our logo by other people, to tarnish our good reputation.

According to Canadian Trade-mark law once a mark is registered, the owner or licensee of a registration can sue any other user of the mark, for trade-mark infringement, in rare occasions jail time of 3 months – 6 years has also resulted from trade0mark infringement.

Staff and Members are encouraged to use the Sq’éwqel logo whenever communicating about the organization specifically. All staff are required to fill out a logo use application form. When using the brand it is strongly recommended you follow the standards set forth in the Visual Identity & Branding Tools Guide.

Band Members, Community Members and Sports Teams can request to have a logo put on apparel or other products. Selling for profit is not usually permitted, on the rare occasion if t is permitted royalty fees to Communications may apply.

Partners and funders can also apply for the logo use, by reading and filling
out the form.

The Communications Program was formed to ensure use of the Sq’éwqel Logo and Wordmark is regulated and proper authorization is granted. Once we receive the completed form, we will then seek out the required authorizations as follows:

• From a Communications Supervisor or Manager,
• Two members of Chief & Council, and/or
• Director or Manager

Note: You require a permission form to be signed by at least two (2) members listed above to officially have permission to use the Sq’éwqel logo.
