Bringing the Community Together with Celebration
The Sq’éwqel (Seabird Island) Events team plans and hosts vibrant programs and gatherings that connect our community. They also coordinate logistics for boardroom meetings, gym nights, field days, and more to meet each event’s unique needs.
Events at Seabird include entertainment and cultural celebrations, and often feature speakers, vendors, and catering. It takes lots of work, planning, collaboration and dedication to make events happen. Throughout the process the Events team coordinates all the details and is on the scene while events take place, making sure everything runs smoothly, and Community Members enjoy the experience as much as possible.
Events bring people together, create memorable moments, celebrate milestones and important occasions, while strengthening traditions.
Sq’éwqel Events program hosts vibrant gatherings each year for Band Members and the local community. Our events aim to engage, connect, and celebrate the unique Sq’éwqel culture.
Annual highlights include:
- Seabird Festival – Celebrating Indigenous heritage with food, music, dance and togetherness
- Community Christmas Dinner – Bringing Community Members together for the holidays
- Sports Tournaments – Coordinated matches of hockey, soccer, basketball, and more!
- Office Events – Staff appreciation and team building to foster unity and sustain commitment to meaningful work
The Events Program handles all event coordination, including:
- Planning and organizing
- Booking entertainment
- Arranging catering and refreshments
- Procuring door prizes and giveaways
- Decorating venues
