This program focuses on coordinating all the Seabird events assisting all the Seabird programs and services in planning their events. This includes boardroom, gym, and field bookings as well as catering requests.
The events team understands the requirements for each event, they know the local cultural workers, dancers, drummers, and speakers as well as the local vendors. They can assist in coordinating special events. Working closely with Communications, they request promotions, invitations, and more. Events staff also do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards. Assist with door prizes and cultural supplies. Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems.
The Events Program also hosts a few larger events, start to finish such as, the Annual Seabird Island Festival, Sqéwqel Daze (Band Open House and Back to School Event) the Community Halloween Party, the Community Christmas Dinner(s), the Community Christmas Hampers and more.
