Campfire Ban | July 16, 2025

July 16, 2025

Please be advised that the BC Wildfire Service, Coastal Fire Centre, has issued a campfire ban effective at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, July 17, 2025, for all areas within the Coastal Zone.

  • Propane fire pits and charcoal briquettes used for cooking are still permitted.
  • Ceremonial fires are respected and are allowed during the ban. However, we ask that the Fire Department be notified in advance of any planned ceremonial fire. This ensures we don’t mistakenly respond with emergency resources.
  • If desired, the Fire Department can provide water extinguishers, and in some locations, hose lines with instruction, can be set out to help ensure the fire remains contained and safe during ceremonial fires.

Please note: Any wood-burning fires during the ban (outside of permitted ceremonial fires) should be reported to 911 so the Fire Department can respond quickly to prevent potential spread.

These prohibitions will be in place until the order is rescinded.

All burning prohibitions issued by the BC Wildfire service take precedence. To stay up to date on current fire prohibitions we recommend following the BC Wildfire Service Facebook page.

Additional activities and use of equipment, materials and substances are also banned, such as fireworks, binary exploding targets and burn barrels.
