Lands Referendum | Notice of Ballot Change
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING BALLOT CHANGE:
REGARDING REFERENDUM QUESTION 1:
- Do you approve of Seabird Island leasing land on Pípehò:M Road to ourselves through our Seabird Housing Society for a term of 42 years, for the BC Housing Affordable Housing Project?
MESSAGE FROM SQ’ÉWQEL (SEABIRD ISLAND BAND):
Seabird Island members will not be asked to vote on the 42-year lease for the BC Housing project because we no longer need it:
- We lobbied hard with BC Housing that we did not need a lease to ourselves given that we are self-governing. On May 5th they finally agreed and will provide the funding for the new housing units without the lease.
