Health and Wellness

The Seabird Island Band's Health Services Department is committed to providing health and social programming First Nations people. Currently, we provide services via a Health Transfer Agreement to First Nations communities in the Fraser Valley. These communities include:

• Seabird Island
• Chawathil First Nation
• Scowlitz First Nation
• Kwaw-Kwaw-Aplit,
• Shxw'owhamel First Nation
• Union Bar
• Services are also provided to Skwah, Cheam, Boothroyd, Boston Bar, Spuzzum, and Chehalis on a contract basis.

The Seabird Island Band's Health Services Department takes a holistic view of health. Health has a social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and cultural component. A key strategy for the Health Services Department is to link health needs with economic opportunities for First Nation people by offering Band Members the opportunity to apply for jobs at the Health services offered in their communities. Then, we link those jobs with educational programs that we offer through Seabird College to prepare future generations for jobs at our Health Services within their communities.
